πΌStroller
Canals mean lots of bridges with steps, and cobblestones are everywhere in the city centre making stroller navigation bumpy and tiring. Bike lanes criss-cross all footpaths β always keep children on the inside. A carrier is useful for canal-side exploration; strollers work better in Jordaan and Museumplein areas.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Amsterdam is very English-friendly with an international food scene β you'll find children's menus in most restaurants and high chairs widely available. Dutch pancakes (poffertjes) are a guaranteed toddler hit. The NEMO Science Museum has a brilliant cafΓ© for families.
π‘οΈSafety
Very safe city with low crime. The main hazard is the cycling infrastructure β cyclists move fast and children can wander into bike lanes. Always use designated crossings and hold children's hands near road-bike intersections.
π₯Hospitals
Amsterdam UMC (Emma Children's Hospital) is a world-class dedicated children's hospital. The city's private Boven IJ Ziekenhuis and OLVG Hospital both have English-speaking emergency departments with paediatric capability.
