πΌStroller
San Francisco's steep hills are a genuine stroller challenge β sections of Lombard Street, Nob Hill, and the Castro are almost impossible to push uphill. The Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, and the Marina are flat and excellent for strollers. Cable cars are not accessible with strollers.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Exceptional food city with a relaxed Californian attitude toward children. The Ferry Building Farmer's Market, Fisherman's Wharf, and Mission District taquerias all have great casual toddler-friendly options. Brunch culture is deeply family-friendly.
π‘οΈSafety
Safe in tourist areas but Tenderloin, Civic Center, and parts of SoMa have visible homelessness and drug use that parents find distressing with young children. The Embarcadero, Marina, Noe Valley, and Fisherman's Wharf are consistently safe family zones.
π₯Hospitals
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital is world-class for serious paediatric cases. Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health both have urgent care facilities throughout the city with no language barrier.
