πΌStroller
Nairobi's roads and infrastructure are not designed for strollers. Private vehicles and safari vehicles are how families move around. A carrier is essential. The main family attractions (Nairobi Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Nairobi National Park) have uneven terrain.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Nairobi has a surprisingly good restaurant scene in Karen, Westlands, and Gigiri. International cuisines are well-represented and most upscale restaurants are family-welcoming. Ugali, nyama choma (roast meat), and fresh tropical fruit are easy toddler foods.
π‘οΈSafety
Security requires careful planning. The well-to-do suburbs of Karen, Gigiri, and Westlands are considerably safer than downtown Nairobi. Always travel by private car or trusted taxi app (Bolt). Malaria prophylaxis is recommended β consult your GP well in advance of travel. Required vaccinations include yellow fever for some entry points.
π₯Hospitals
Nairobi Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital, and MP Shah Hospital in Parklands are the top private facilities with English throughout and solid paediatric capability. Serious cases often require evacuation to South Africa.
