πΌStroller
The V&A Waterfront, Green Point promenade, and Camps Bay beachfront are excellent stroller territory. Table Mountain and most nature reserves require a carrier. Car travel between areas is essential β walking between neighbourhoods is not advisable for safety reasons.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Cape Town has an outstanding food scene with very relaxed attitudes toward children. The V&A Waterfront has excellent family dining. Braai (barbecue) culture is completely toddler-friendly. High chairs are common in mid-range restaurants and many upscale ones.
π‘οΈSafety
Cape Town requires more careful planning than most destinations on this list. The city has significant inequality and crime β always travel by car or Uber between areas, never on foot outside of the V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay, and Green Point. Research your specific neighbourhoods thoroughly before booking. Areas like Kalk Bay and Constantia are considerably safer for families.
π₯Hospitals
Mediclinic Cape Gate and Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital are the top private options with English throughout. Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital (a dedicated public paediatric hospital) is world-class for serious cases.
